CyrusOne Expands Data Center Efficiency

CyrusOne reported in its 2021 Sustainability Report a detailed look at a water conservation strategy in its data centers that demonstrates how energy efficiency and water efficiency in tech are tied.

The data center tested out an efficiency process that reduced the amount of energy used in the test data center and thus the amount of water needed to keep the systems running at a cool enough level. Such retrofits and energy upgrades were conducted at its least efficient facilities to maximize results.

The company’s sustainability report said that CyrusOne received the Three Green Globes Building Designation for its Aurora I and II data centers outside Chicago for energy efficiency gains in construction and operation. The report also includes an assessment of CyrusOne’s climate risk, including carbon pricing analysis and future flood risk.

I look forward to working with our team and partners to accelerate our conservation and diversity initiatives in the coming year.”
