Google signs 225 MW wind PPA with Invenergy

Google signed a 225-MW power purchase agreement with renewable energy producer Invenergy Jan. 27 to help power Google’s data centers. Google has recently partnered with six companies for a grand total 842 MW of renewable energy across three countries.

Invenergy has signed several additional supply agreements in the past few months. Those agreements, including the PPA with Google, bring Invenergy's total corporate customer wind portfolio to 570 MW. The Google agreement includes wind energy sales from the Bethel Wind Energy Facility located in Texas. Invenergy will provide 225 MW of capacity delivered into the Southwest Power Pool, a regional electricity grid.

"We are thrilled to bring our innovation in energy to Google, a company famous for their innovation in technology," Invenergy Vice President of Sales and Marketing Craig Gordon said in a statement. "Their commitment to using renewable energy sources to power their data centers represents a significant change in the way big corporations are thinking about sustainability and we are proud to be a part of those efforts."
