Summit Hotel Properties selects energy partner

Part of a broader sustainability plan, Summit Hotel Properties Inc. has partnered up to deploy a comprehensive energy management strategy that aims to reduce utility costs across its portfolio of 82 U.S. hotels.

The real estate investment trust has hired Ecova to provide energy and expense management services, including expense and data management, energy supply management, historical facility energy use analysis and energy performance reporting. Summit Hotel Properties, whose portfolio includes Marriott, Hilton and Sheraton-branded hotels, said the partnership will enable it to view and manage its utility and energy data in one platform and to identify broad trends across its portfolio.

Ecova says it has the largest database of utility data for the hospitality market, which drives robust benchmarking for organizations.

"Sustainability matters to the communities surrounding our hotels and to our guests who are increasingly looking to support environmentally conscious businesses," Summit Hotel Properties COO Craig Aniszewski said in a statement. "The work we are doing with Ecova will help us reduce consumption."
