5 major corporate buyers headline RES Forum

Energy and sustainability executives from Amazon Web Services, General Motors Co., Intel Corp., Lockheed Martin and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. are set to headline the inaugural Smart Energy Decisions Renewable Energy Sourcing Forum this November.

A finalized agenda and list of speakers for the invitation-only conference  — which is focused entirely on helping large electric end-users accelerate their adoption of renewable energy — is now available. The Renewable Energy Sourcing Forum, to be held Nov. 8 through Nov. 10 at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., will offer an opportunity for energy management professionals — from those who have just started looking at renewable energy to those with experienced, industry-leading programs — to advance their approach to successfully incorporate renewable energy into their plans.

To kick off the Forum, Reid Spolek, manager of renewable energy for Amazon Web Services, will discuss the importance of identifying and answering your organization's response to the question of "why buy renewable energy?" Marty Sedler, director of global utilities and infrastructure for Intel, will walk through the company's "portfolio approach" and its focus on onsite projects; Rob Threlkeld, global manager for renewable energy at GM, will reveal the best approaches to working with your company's finance team to meet goals; Rowena Striff, aeronautics energy manager for Lockheed Martin will share her strategies for navigating trends toward a clean energy future; and Joby Carlson, global director of sustainable energy and operations at Walmart will take attendees inside the retail giant's renewable energy journey.

Additionally, a panel of energy customers will explore emerging renewable energy procurement options with a focus on regulated markets, including green tariffs and community solar. Noah Bucon, senior analyst for policy and certification programs at the Center for Resource Solutions, will moderate the panel comprised of Keith Warner, senior manager of utilities services and conservation at Boeing; Kyle Goehring, vice president, national manager, clean energy for Jones Lang LaSalle; and Dr. Wolfgang Bauer, distinguished professor and senior consultant, Michigan State University.

The Renewable Energy Sourcing Forum will also feature case study presentations from a host of suppliers: Edison Energy, NextEra Energy Resources; Schneider Electric's Energy & Sustainability Services division; Current powered by GE; Constellation; Enel Green Power; Direct Energy Business; EnterSolar; EDF Renewable Energy; 3Degrees; American PowerNet; 7X Energy; Avangrid Renewables LLC; Open Road  Renewables; Cube Hydro; BayWa r.e.
