SED expands renewable energy event schedule

Following the success of the 2017 Renewable Energy Sourcing Forum, Smart Energy Decisions is producing two editions of the Forum in 2018. The Spring edition will take place June 18-20 at the Rancho Bernardo Inn in San Diego. The Fall edition is scheduled for Oct. 1-3 at Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

Both editions are designed to build on the foundation laid at the inaugural Forum, held last November, which was applauded by corporate buyers and industry suppliers alike. The Forum was "one of the best-organized events I have attended," said Tom Schurmans, senior specialist energy optimization at Cargill. Among corporate buyer attendees, 93% reported they were likely to attend again.

Supplier sponsors agreed, as 87% said they were likely to renew their sponsorship participation. The forum "delivered access to high-level decision makers during both the boardroom case study and 1:1 meetings," said David Grupp, head of national key accounts at Direct Energy Business.

Cutting edge content for the events will be shaped by the Smart Energy Decisions Advisory Board and the RE Sourcing Steering Committee. Keynote presentations, panel sessions, and case studies offer a unique opportunity to learn, share experiences with peers, and conduct business.

"We’re excited about the opportunity to build on the success of the 2017 Forum with editions of the Forum on both coasts in 2018 in the interest of serving more members of our community," said John Failla, founder & editorial director of Smart Energy Decisions."

Some of the topics to be covered at the Forums include renewable energy product options, risk management strategies, deal structures, pitfalls to avoid, sourcing in regulated and deregulated markets, and onsite and offsite opportunities.

Case studies will be presented by leading industry suppliers representing a variety of categories including solar and wind developers, power producers, advisory services, utilities, energy storage and fuel cells, financing programs, and energy service companies.

Insights from the 2017 event, featuring presentations from Amazon Web Services, Altenex, Intel Corp., General Motors, Lockheed Martin, Schneider Electric, and Constellation, were captured in the recently published special issue of Smart Energy Decisions Insights.

Smart Energy Decisions has additionally released a two-minute video that captures the spirit of the Forum:

Failla said "Collectively our community of large commercial and industrial companies can drive substantial growth in the adoption of renewable energy. We remain steadfast in our mission to help facilitate that transition."
