Ca. Dept. of General Services to receive $9.8M for energy upgrades
Public facilities across California will be receiving energy efficiency upgrades under a new contract that was announced Jan. 6.
The California Department of General Services will be receiving $9.8 million in turnkey energy savings performance contracts from Willan Group, Inc. Various buildings will be upgraded with improvements that include a comprehensive building management system upgrade, LED lighting and controls retrofits, retro-commissioning and heating hot water upgrades.
“These projects meet critical needs at each facility while significantly reducing energy consumption,” Tom Brisbin, Willdan’s Chairman and CEO, said in a statement. “Willdan’s design approach and assistance securing $6 million in zero-percent financing will allow California to spend just $250,000 in capital for upgrades and allow the district office to avoid out-of-pocket costs entirely.”
The buildings receiving the upgrades include the Elihu Harris building in Oakland and a district office building in San Diego.
