Solar project revealed on the Stamford waterfront

The Silicon Harbor office complex on the Samford, Conn., waterfront revealed Oct. 3 one of the state’s largest solar installations, totaling 587.2 kW, on its rooftop.

The owner of the 500,000 square foot complex, Building Land and Technology, joined with ENGIE Services on the project and expects it to generate 732,400 kWh of clean energy per year. Once fully operational, the Silicon Harbor solar installation is expected to offset up to 10% of the property’s energy consumption when fully occupied.

“Our goal is to make Silicon Harbor stand out as an environmental leader, and the launch of our solar installation is a giant step in that direction," Carl R. Kuehner, III, Chairman of BLT, said in a statement. "This cutting edge technology allows for massive gains in building efficiency and emission reduction and we want to be doing our part."

Construction on the project began in late March and the system was first energized this summer.
