Accenture targets net zero by 2025

Accenture announced Oct. 8 that it is committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2025.

The consulting firm plans to achieve this target and reduce emissions by powering its offices with 100% renewable energy and by engaging key suppliers to reduce emissions in the supply chain. Another key part will be addressing emissions from employee travel. To offset unavoidable emissions, the company will invest in carbon removal solutions like large-scale tree planting.

Accenture has joined several initiatives that reflect its sustainability commitments, such as the UN Global Compact’s Business Ambition for 1.5° Pledge, RE100, and reducing emissions in line with science-based targets.

“This is the moment for business, government and society to come together to reimagine, rebuild and transform our global economy into one that works for the benefit of all,” CEO Julie said in a statement. “Today’s rapid acceleration to digital presents us with a breakthrough opportunity to create a more sustainable future. By scaling these ambitions, we can help make real change and deliver 360-degree value for all.”
