Logitech introduces carbon impact tracking across portfolio

Logitech International announced June 17 that they are committed to track and label the carbon impact of all of their products going forward to communicate individual impact to consumers.

This move makes the digital tech company the first consumer electronics company to provide detailed carbon impact labeling on product packaging across their entire portfolio. Logitech has developed a Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) capability that computes a product’s carbon impact across its lifetime, from raw materials to manufacturing, distribution, consumer use and the end of its life. The company will also work with Natural Capital Partners, iPoint Group and an independent verifier to validate product-level carbon impact.

“We recognize the scale of the environmental challenges facing our planet today,” Bracken Darrell, president and CEO of Logitech, said in a statement. “We are doubling down on our efforts to reduce our environmental impact, yet we can’t do it alone. By communicating the carbon impact of our products, we are empowering and collaborating with our consumers to better the world. Carbon is the new calorie - we need to know what we’re consuming. We also invite other companies to join Logitech in driving positive change by providing full transparency on their products. It will take an industry-wide effort to truly make a difference.”

Logitech has previously committed to being powered by 100% renewable electricity by 2030 and in 2019 achieved carbon neutrality in their entire gaming product portfolio.
