Albemarle Corporation announced 24% of its electricity consumption in 2024 was generated from renewable sources, an increase of 16% over the previous year.

The global company providing elements for mobility, energy, connectivity, and health also announced that due to efficiency improvements and increased procurement of renewable and carbon-free electricity, Albemarle is on track to grow its energy storage business in a Scope 1 and 2 carbon intensity-neutral manner.

In addition, Albemarle’s specialties and Ketjen segments remain on track to meet the company’s 2030 Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions targets on an absolute basis.

As published in its 2024 Sustainability Report, Albemarle initiated a decarbonization roadmap to assess enterprise hot spots and identify intervention approaches including electrification, renewable/carbon-free electricity, process changes, efficiency improvements, fuel substitutions and end-of-pipe solutions.
