Amphenol Corporation announced the reduction of its revenue-normalized Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 34% compared to its 2021 levels and an increase in its adoption of renewable energy.
The achievement is one year ahead of the company’s schedule.
Amphenol also established its first absolute target to reduce its Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 10% compared to 2021 levels. One of the company’s new goals is to track GHG emissions of its Tier 1 direct suppliers.
In 2024, Amphenol consumed 319,807 megawatt hours (MWh) of renewable energy, with 28% of its energy coming from renewable sources, up substantially from 16% in 2023. This increase was driven in part by the expanded use of on-site solar installations, which drove a nearly three-fold increase in the renewable electricity produced and consumed on-site compared to 2023.
During 2024, six Amphenol sites added on-site solar installations. In addition, nearly 50 sites had 100% renewable energy contracts in place in 2024.
By the end of 2030, Amphenol will increase the use of renewable energy to 50% for energy used at its facilities.
Amphenol, a manufacturer of electrical, electronic and fiber optic connectors, also achieved reasonable third-party verification of its 2023 energy consumption and Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions and achieved limited third-party verification of its 2023 Scope 3 GHG emissions.
“I am pleased to share Amphenol’s 2024 Sustainability Report, which highlights our many areas of progress and success throughout the Company,” said Amphenol CEO R. Adam Norwitt in a statement. “2024 was another successful year for Amphenol, with our global team delivering record financial performance. We also made meaningful progress in our sustainability program.”
