Belden Inc., a global provider of complete connection solutions, announced the company exceeded its goal of reducing its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 25% from 2019 levels by the end of 2025.

At the end of 2024, Belden had reduced its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 41.1%. This success is driven by the execution of hundreds of sustainability projects at locations globally by employees who find innovative ways to weave sustainability into operations, as well as the implementation of power purchase agreements.

In addition, the company’s Neckartenzlingen, Germany facility entered a PPA in 2024, and the company achieved its sustainable packaging goals, with 95% of its packaging now made from renewable or recyclable materials.

To continue its progress, Belden has set a new goal to reduce emissions by 70% by 2030.

Details were released in its 2024 Sustainability Report: At the Intersection of Technology and Sustainability.

Belden first defined its sustainability goals in 2021, setting 12 clear objectives to be achieved by the end of 2025.

In addition to its recent accomplishments, the 2024 report also features new data on Scope 3 emissions, capturing indirect environmental impacts across Belden’s supply chain. The company’s existing efforts to engage with its supply chain vendors on their climate-related goals and to evaluate Belden’s product categories for possible climate-related improvements help reduce the company’s two key contributing categories of Scope 3 emissions.

“Doing what’s right for the environment, our employees and our communities is also good for business,” says Senior Vice President of Legal, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary Brian Anderson, who leads Belden’s sustainability program, in a statement. “As we meet and surpass these goals, we’re excited to establish new priorities that will build on the successes of objectives already achieved.”
