Toro, a global provider of solutions for the outdoor environment, published a 13.1% decrease in GHG emissions since a 2019 baseline.
The company also delivered significant productivity savings through initiatives targeting energy efficiency and reduced packaging waste.
As released in its Sustainability Impact Report for fiscal 2024, although Toro does not operate its fleet, its global logistics team is committed to optimizing delivery processes while minimizing environmental impact. This includes designing transportation routes that reduce fuel consumption, maximizing the use of space on transport vehicles, and promoting eco-friendly shipping practices. Compliance with global hazardous materials shipping regulations is a top priority, particularly for battery-powered, and engine-powered products.
The company will participate in collaborative shipping programs by partnering with suppliers, dealers and distributors to reduce packaging waste. Toro will also leverage data analytics to combine shipments efficiently —reducing partial loads and minimizing transportation emissions — and collaborate with carriers that prioritize fuel-efficient fleets, alternative fuels and carbon offset programs.
The company’s 2025 goal is to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by at least 15% by fiscal 2025 as compared to fiscal 2019.
Toro also completed its first Double Materiality Assessment to identify environmental, social and governance (ESG) topics with the greatest potential impact on business performance, society and the environment.
The company broke ground on a new 170,000 square-foot paint facility for Ditch Witch in Perry, Oklahoma, a move that will generate greater operational efficiencies. Toro also launched a composting program at its Bloomington headquarters, diverting over 34,000 lbs. of organic waste from landfills, transforming it into compost and contributing to long-term waste reduction.
“At The Toro Company, sustainability is rooted in how we operate, innovate and position the company for growth,” said Richard M. Olson, chairman and chief executive officer of The Toro Company, in a statement. “Our 2024 report reflects the collective efforts of our global teams to drive positive impact—through the products we develop, the partnerships we build, and the communities we support. We’re excited to share the progress made this year as we continue to build momentum.”
