Apple, GM, more recognized for clean power use

The U.S. EPA has recognized 16 public and private organizations for their activities in sourcing clean power this year through the government organization's Green Power Partnership program.

The 2016 Green Power Leadership Awards ceremony took place at the Renewable Energy Markets Conference in San Francisco, Calif. on Oct. 17. In an announcement, the EPA said the winning organizations are leading the way to help significantly advance the development of green power sources.

The Green Power Partnership program publishes quarterly rankings of its partners, many of which are large corporate energy users, who have pledged to increase their use of clean power sources; Intel Corp. topped the most recent list

"Green power is becoming more affordable and mainstream because of leaders like the Green Power Leadership Award winners," Janet McCabe, acting assistant administrator for EPA's Office of Air and Radiation said in a statement. "I commend the work they do to grow the renewable energy market and spur innovation, and as we continue to act on climate, I encourage them to continue to set a high bar for others to achieve."
