P&G hits goals, sets new ones

The Procter & Gamble Company announced it has made significant progress against their 2020 goals for climate, water, and waste, and have set new goals for 2030.

With the release of the company’s 2018 Citizenship Report, P&G explained, “Our energy team has worked hard to deliver renewable onsite projects like a combined heat and power biomass facility in Georgia and offsite partnerships like our wind farm in Texas that have put us on track to deliver our current targets." The company has set a target to purchase 100% renewable electricity in North America by 2020 and globally by 2030. P&G has also set a science-based target to reduce scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030 from a 2010 baseline.”

The report stated P&G has already achieved a 22% reduction per unit of production, surpassing its energy reduction goal of 20% by 2020. Currently, 14% of the company’s energy is from renewable sources, heading towards a goal of 30% at their plants by 2020.

GHG emissions have been reduced by 21%; the goal is to reach 30% by 2020. P&G has surpassed its goal to reduce truck transportation kilometers by 20%, hitting more than 25%.
