Whole Foods adds 2.6 MW in solar projects
Whole Foods Markets announced June 24 the installation of more than 2.6 MW of solar projects across eight of its operating locations in California and Nevada, with one site combining an integrated storage system.
The project were carried out by SunPower at Whole Foods locations in Cupertino, Fremont, Los Altos, Roseville, San Jose, Santa Clara and Santa Rosa, the company said in a statement. An additional 2 MW are planned across another 11 stores in California, expected to be online in early 2020.
The Santa Rosa location also has a 483 kW Helix Storage system installed onsite. Combined with a solar project in Reno, Nevada, the company expects to generate more than 3.9 million kWh of electricity annually.
Whole Foods estimates that the projects will replace 25% of traditional grid energy use on average per store.

"These solar projects from SunPower support our core value of advancing environmental stewardship in the communities where Team Members and customers work and live."
