Poland Spring bottling plant plans 10 MW of on-site solar

Nestlé Waters North America announced Sept. 22 that they will be building a 10 MW solar project at their Poland Spring bottling plant in Hollis, Maine, that will cover 20-25% of the facility’s energy needs.

The solar array is expected to span 47 acres and generate enough energy to power the equivalent of 1,998 homes. Nestlé is collaborating with EnterSolar and Sevee & Maher Engineers on the project.

“At Poland Spring, we have a well-established track record of managing Maine’s water resources responsibly and sustainably for the long term," Cameron Lorrain, Nestlé Waters North America Northeast Regional Technical & Production Director, said in a statement. "With this project, we are planning to go further and are proud to align with the greenhouse gas emission reduction goals championed by Governor Janet Mills and recently codified in Maine law.”

The solar farm is expected to break ground in April 2021 and be completed in Spring 2022, pending permits from the Town of Hollis and the Maine Department of Environmental Protection.
