The manufacturing sector, a subset of the industrial sector, refers to industries involved in the transformation of raw materials into finished or semi-finished goods, typically through mechanical, physical, or chemical processes. Operators in the manufacturing sector consume a majority of their energy load in the manufacturing process; these companies include aerospace and defense, automobiles, packaging, pharmaceuticals, food and beverages, heavy equipment, medical devices and equipment, and computers and electronics.
