Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) are decentralized, modular energy systems that generate, store, or manage electricity near the point of consumption. They include technologies like onsite solar, battery storage systems, electric vehicles, and demand response tools, which can operate independently or in coordination with the larger electricity grid. DERs tend to be bidirectional in that they can both consume and supply power to the grid.
