Land O'Lakes subscribes to three community solar gardens

Land O’Lakes announced Nov. 10 that it subscribed to three recently completed community solar garden projects that total more than 4 MW in capacity.

The projects are owned and operated by C2 Energy and are located near the farmer-owned agricultural cooperative’s Minnesota headquarters. The three projects are also expected to produce more than 2,000,000 kWh of electricity per year, offsetting 1,537 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions annually.

“Within the farming community, our stewardship is defined by continuous improvement of the air, soil, water, and safeguarding of our natural resources for generations,” Bryan Crane, Senior Manager of Commodity & Energy Risk at Land O'Lakes, said in a statement. “We have seen firsthand that C2 Energy Capital shares that same kind of continuous commitment to the construction, maintenance, and operations of their solar farms and we are confident we are in good hands for decades to come.”

Land O’Lakes first launched its sustainability strategy in 2016 and is focused on increasing sustainability throughout the food industry, starting with the farmers who are a part of its cooperative.
