EOS, a German supplier of additive manufacturing (AM) technology, received approval of its science-based targets by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to achieve net-zero GHG emissions by 2045.
“We are proud to take this important step toward a 1.5-degree future, reinforcing our commitment to meaningful climate action and to supporting our customers on their sustainability journeys. Our validated science-based targets reflect EOS’ dedication to Responsible Manufacturing and our role in helping drive sustainability progress within the additive manufacturing industry,” said Marie Langer, CEO of EOS, in a statement.
This milestone reinforces EOS’ Responsible Manufacturing mission and aligns with customer expectations.
EOS is committed to contributing to halving global emissions before 2030 and achieving net-zero before 2050, and its science-based targets are set against a 2022 base year.
The company’s science-based targets include a 90% absolute reduction in Scope 3 CO2e emissions by 2045, 42% absolute reduction in Scope 1 and 2 CO2e emissions by 2030, 25% absolute reduction in Scope 3 CO2e emissions by 2030 and a 90% absolute reduction in Scope 1 and 2 CO2e emissions by 2040.
EOS developed a climate roadmap based on cross-functional workshops and data-driven emissions analysis. The key measures include increased efficiency of systems and processes, electrification of the company car fleet, transition to renewable electricity across sites and development of more sustainable materials.
