Executives from top Microsoft, Johnson Controls, Vestas, and other firms join AEE board
If the growing corporate trend toward securing, clean, affordable energy in the U.S. was not already clear, the recent announcement that executives from some of the country’s largest firms joined the Advanced Energy Economy’s Board of Directors provides further evidence that companies are leading the clean energy charge.
The new directors are Mary Rhinehart, chair and president at Johns Manville; Terrill Laughton, vice president and general manager of integrated demand resources at Johnson Controls; Dan'l Lewin, corporate vice president at Microsoft; André DeVilbiss, senior vice president of strategic development at Recurrent Energy; Bill DiCroce, president and COO at Veolia North America's Municipal and Commercial Business; and Chris Brown, president at Vestas Americas. Remaining on the board, now in his new role at Schneider Electric, is Kevin Self, senior vice president of strategy, business development and government relations.
"I am extremely proud to have the leadership and guidance of these outstanding business executives on our board," Graham Richard CEO of AEE said in a statement. "With their diverse corporate backgrounds, they bring valuable insights rooted in high-tech, energy efficiency, building materials, district energy, water management, solar and wind power. They join a highly energized board committed to driving transformative public policy that accelerates the growth of advanced energy technologies. By strengthening our board in perspective and experience, these executives of AEE member companies will help us achieve our vision of a prosperous world running on secure, clean, affordable energy."
"Investments in renewable energy are a foundation of Microsoft's overall environmental sustainability strategy, and we are committed to taking actions that accelerate the growth and adoption of clean energy," Microsoft's Lewin said. "I'm excited to join the board of AEE and look forward to drawing on the collective expertise to advance the adoption of clean energy and speed the transition to a low-carbon, sustainable future."
