Bank of America Installs Rooftop Solar on Corporate Campus

Bank of America announced Oct. 26 the installation of a solar project at its corporate campus in Chandler, Ariz., that is expected to offset 60% of the facility’s annual electricity demand.

The 10,000 solar modules were installed on building rooftops and covered carports by Ameresco, in addition to EV charging stations, a solar-powered ATM and benches with personal device charging capabilities that are also charged by solar power. The project is expected to reduce emissions from Bank of America by nearly 5,000 metric tons of CO2e emissions annually.

“In 2019, Bank of America reached Carbon Neutrality through efforts like this project. While it is a good start, we aim to be Net Zero before 2050,” Mark O’Grady, Real Estate Portfolio Management Executive at Bank of America, said in a statement. “Not only is it one of the largest ‘behind the meter’ solar projects west of Ohio, but it also gives our employees something they’ve been asking for, great covered parking spaces.”

Construction began in November 2020 and was completed in August.

Beth Wytiaz, SVP, Enterprise Climate Strategy Executive at Bank of America, will be a Keynote Speaker at Smart Energy Decisions' 2022 innovation Summit, March 14-16, 2022 at The Houstonian Hotel, Club and Spa in Houston.
