Parent company of Avon, The Body Shop commits to net zero

Natura &Co, the parent company of Avon, Natura, The Body Shop and Aesop, announced June 15 that they are committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions across their four brands by 2030.

The cosmetics company announced these plans in their sustainability plan, Commitment to Life. They outlined their strategy to achieve net-zero carbon, including reducing carbon emissions aligned with science-based targets and tracking emissions throughout their entire value chain and that of their suppliers.

The company is also committed to moving toward a circular economy model in their packaging and materials by 2030.

“We understand the critical moment we live in right now and the role that companies need to play to engage themselves and commit to a better, more sustainable and more inclusive society,” CEO Roberto Marques said in a statement. “We still need to do so much more to be the generation that restores our planet and protects its people. Aligned with our guiding principles, Natura &Co hopes to be a part of the dialogue and the solution. We're the generation that has the knowledge and the technology to stem the rise in global temperatures, put an end to the global waste issue, and create equality for those who need it most. But we now need to move faster, we need to act and be held accountable.”

A large part of Natura &Co’s sustainability initiatives include actions that protect the Amazon. They currently preserve 1.8 million hectares of the forest’s land and have plans to foster collective effort to ensure zero forestation of the Amazon by 2025.
