Aramark HQ awarded LEED Silver certification

Aramark announced Oct. 30 that its headquarters office space in Philadelphia received LEED Silver certification for its sustainable design and construction.

The food service provider achieved this certification for its office space by implementing energy-saving projects like using efficient lighting, which decreased lighting power density by 40%, and installing over 90% ENERGY STAR certified appliances. Local manufacturer materials and certified Forest Stewardship Council’s (FSC) wood was used throughout the space and 75% of construction materials were diverted from landfills.

The office space was certified under the LEED for Interior Design and Construction rating system and the entire building itself previously received Gold certification when it was a new construction project.

“Our goal in designing our new home was to ‘future-proof’ the workplace by integrating sustainable design elements to create an open environment that fosters collaboration, innovation, wellness, and community,” Marc S. Liciardello, Vice President of Corporate Services at Aramark, said in a statement. “While our employees may be working remotely, due to the pandemic, the forward-looking design sustains remote work productivity as we look forward to their eventual return to 2400 Market. Today, healthy and sustainable workplaces are more important than ever, and this LEED recognition reinforces Aramark’s commitment to offering efficient and meaningful solutions for the well-being of our employees, customers, partners, community and environment.”
