State incentives help Uniroyal transform Wisconsin manufacturing plant with LED lighting
Utilizing an incentive from Wisconsin's "Focus on Energy" program for energy efficiency and renewable energy, Uniroyal Global Engineered Products Inc. has completed a lighting infrastructure upgrade at its Stoughton, Wisc., manufacturing plant.
The Stoughton plant manufactures Uniroyal Global's automotive and custom/specialty vinyl-coated fabric products. As part of the upgrade, the company implemented 575 LED light fixtures within the plant's production floor and warehouse, Uniroyal Global according to a July 28 news release.
The project entailed upgrading older light fixtures to LED technology and installing new LED light fixtures with occupancy motion detectors that dim or switch off lights when workers are not present, Uniroyal Global said. It is expected to save a total of 607,706 kilowatt-hours of electricity and reduce the facility's annual energy costs.
"With the new LED lighting, we've improved task lighting in key production areas, and are seeing a reduction in both energy consumption and related utility costs," plant manager Jim Recob said in a statement. "The LED lighting project is one initiative within an overall strategy to invest in energy efficient manufacturing technologies that reduce the environmental impact of manufacturing operations."
Uniroyal Global manufacturers of vinyl coated fabrics that are durable, stain resistant, cost-effective alternatives to leather, cloth and other synthetic fabric coverings. Uniroyal Global Engineered Products, Inc.’s revenue in 2015 was derived 65% from the automotive industry and approximately 35% from the recreational, industrial, indoor and outdoor furnishings, hospitality and health care markets.
