3Degrees scoops Fortune 500 climate advisory firm
Further evidence of consolidation among energy and advisory service companies that cater to large commercial and industrial organizations, energy climate advisory firm 3Degrees on April 6 announced its acquisition of Origin Climate, a provider of similar services to Fortune 500 companies.
In a news release announcing the deal, 3Degrees said the combined company will expand its custom offerings for commercial and industrial clients. Origin Climate has advised clients on more than 1,400 MW of completed renewable power procurement transactions.
By joining forces with Origin Climate, 3Degrees says it will enhance the depth of its offerings across consulting and transaction services —including PPAs, contracted purchases from competitive energy providers, green tariffs, and tax equity and other owner-investment options — as well as customizable renewable energy certificates and carbon offset products.
"Over the past several years, many organizations have significantly broadened their climate and energy goals," the company said in the release. "These leaders need a wide range of products and an evolved set of services to ensure their success."
Both Origin Climate and 3Degrees are certified B Corporations.
