Michigan adds PACE energy efficiency projects

Roberts Riverwalk Urban Resort Hotel in Detroit and the Liquid Web Data Center in Lansing are each beginning new energy-efficiency projects through the Lean and Green Michigan program, funded by Property Assessed Clean Energy, or PACE.

A report by Crain’s Detroit Business said the projects are worth a combined $8.5 million. The Roberts Riverwalk project is budgeted at $4.76 million and will feature the addition of LED lights, solar parking lights, HVAC upgrades, and other energy-saving building improvements expected to save $15.6 million over 10 years. The Liquid Web project, at $3.69 million will add computer-controlled, high-efficiency air-conditioners to the facility for an estimated $10.2 million in savings over 10 years.

Noting that PACE projects had a slow start in the state, the report tallied $6 million in projects from 2015 to 2017. In 2018, $14.5 million in projects have already been facilitated.
