Phillipsburg Signs for 20 Years of Solar
Phillipsburg’s town council voted to sign a 20-year contract to buy power from a future solar project, according to an article from LehighValleyLive.com.
The town council members agreed to buy electricity from power provider Phoebus Fund LLC. The agreement is expected to save the town an estimated $325,000 annually. The town would pay 4.5 cents per KWh compared to the current rate of 9.71 cents per KWh. The solar project has been proposed to be built on farmland in Lopatcong Township in New Jersey.
Councilman Lee Clark said Phillipsburg will contribute to Gov. Phil Murphy’s plan to reach 100% clean energy 2050.
