Panasonic to be carbon-free by 2050

By 2050, Panasonic Corporation is aiming to run its global operations completely on renewable energy and to emit no carbon dioxide at all. In the meantime, the company has set shorter-term goals as it moves towards 2050. These include installing renewable energy power generation systems at its factories; the company is also looking looking to procure renewable energy for its factories in Japan, Europe and the Americas.

While Panasonic moves forward with its zero-CO2 plans, it has joined RE100, an international initiative operated by The Climate Group in partnership with the environmental charity CDP to work in concert with other global companies to eliminate COfrom their operations.

Among Panasonic’s shorter-term objectives, the company will move forward with its Green Plan 2021, an environmental action plan to help it realize zero-CO2 model factories in each region of the world and to expand the use of renewable energy suitable to regional characteristics.
