Boeing targets 25% emissions cut

Boeing has set a goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 25% by 2025 and eventually power all their operations with 100% renewable energy.

Currently, Boeing’s sites in Renton, Wash., and Charleston, S.C., use 100% carbon free electricity through renewable energy consumption and purchasing carbon offsets.

Boeing also announced March 12 that they will be joining the Renewable Energy Buyers Alliance in support of this goal.

“This move demonstrates Boeing’s commitment to environmental responsibility,” Beth Schryer, Boeing vice president of Facilities & Asset Management, said in a statement. “Boeing is shifting into a new era, where we must focus on a zero-carbon energy path forward. Joining the world’s largest corporations in a global sustainability effort is the right thing to do for the planet.”
