Civitas Resources Sets 2027 Goals

Civitas Resources developed a new commitment to reduce its Scope 1 GHG emissions by 50% by 2027 against a 2021 baseline.

The oil and gas company also equipped more than 90 locations with over 100 real-time air monitoring stations and achieved zero routine flaring as of January 2022.

Civitas Resources is committed to achieving carbon neutrality on its acquired Permian Basin assets by the end of 2024. As detailed in its second Corporate Sustainability Report, the company will offset residual Scope 1 emissions using only certified offsets sourced from the four largest and most credible offset registries. In addition, Civitas will offset Scope 2 emissions through Green-e Certified renewable energy credits.

"Two years ago, we set ambitious goals for Civitas Resources around our future performance and priorities as an industry leader," said Civitas President and CEO M. Chris Doyle in a statement. "This year, we continued to build on our commitment to safe operations, the environment, and the communities where we operate. As such, we continue to distinguish ourselves among exploration and production companies as a sustainability leader with bold actions."
