Tractor Supply Commits to Setting Science-Based Target

Tractor Supply Company, a rural lifestyle retailer, announced a commitment to set a science-based target to reduce carbon emissions that is in line with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

The company is in the process of developing a science-based target that will be submitted to and approved by SBTi.

Tractor Supply also opened its first distribution center built to LEED Gold® certification standards and completed construction on another built to the same exacting standards. The two distribution centers comprise more than 2.1 million enclosed square feet and are capable of offsetting 100% of electricity requirements with renewable energy.

Additionally, the company installed six EV charging stations at the Store Support Center (SSC) in Brentwood, Tennessee.

“Through our day-to-day operations and decisions as a company, Tractor Supply remains steadfast in its commitment to preserving Life Out Here for future generations,” said Hal Lawton, president and chief executive officer at Tractor Supply, in a statement. “We’ve set ambitious stewardship goals and are excited to share the great progress we have made toward achieving them over the past year, thanks to the efforts of our team.”
