Caterpillar, Inc. announced on May 11 new sustainability goals centered around climate, environment, and safety. Among the goals to achieve by 2030 in operations energy and emissions: a science-based Scope 1 and 2 goal to reduce absolute GHG emissions from its operations by 30% from 2018 to 2030.

ACI Challenges Cleaning Products Industry: Net Zero Emissions by 2050
The American Cleaning Institute (ACI) has challenged cleaning product companies to align their operations with the Paris Climate Agreement, achieving net zero emissions by 2050. So far, at least fifteen cleaning product suppliers have risen to the challenge by making science-based climate commitments.

To celebrate Eli Lilly’s 145th anniversary, the medical company has committed to Scope 1 and 2 carbon neutrality - including the use of 100% renewable energy - by 2030. This target builds on its 2020 success of reducing GHG emissions intensity by 22.2% (compared to 2012).

Georgetown University’s New Residence Hall Uses Low-Carbon Concrete
Georgetown University has announced that its 55 H Street Residence hall will be the first major construction project in Washington D.C. to use ECOpact low-carbon concrete. This concrete mix will decrease the hall’s embodied carbon by 40%, helping it to achieve its goal of surpassing LEED V4 Platinum status.

Teva Announces 25% Reduction in GHG Emissions
Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. achieved a reduction in total energy consumption of 6% in 2020 vs. 2019 and a 25% reduction since 2017. These results, along with other energy and emissions-related successes, as well as long-term goals, were shared with the release of the company’s 2020 ESG Progress Report.
