Shell to Add 800 New EV Chargers at Waitrose Stores
Waitrose and Shell will be expanding their partnership by adding 800 new electric vehicle charging points at as many as 100 Waitrose store parking lots across the UK by 2025.
Each charging location is expected to have six 22 kW and two 50 kW rapid charging points and should be installed beginning early next year. The project will support Shell’s ambition to grow its Shell Recharge-branded network to 5,000 charge points by 2025.
The partnership between Waitrose and Shell will also include more than doubling the number of Shell gas station shops that sell Waitrose-branded food.
“This is an important partnership for Waitrose and means we can offer even greater convenience to more of our customers,” James Bailey, executive director of Waitrose, said in a statement. “We're also delighted to bring our customers 800 new charging points for electric vehicles, including new rapid charging capabilities, as the UK moves more and more towards a sustainable transport network.”
