Ralph Lauren Contributes to a Circular Economy

Ralph Lauren Corporation emphasized its commitment to environmentally responsible product development, including its support of the circular economy through its aspirations to become C2C Certified® by 2025 and the expansion of its sustainable product portfolio.

Specifically, the company introduced the Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold Luxury Cashmere, which was awarded certification based on its performance in product circularity. It also created the POLO® MIRUM® sneaker and crossbody pouch, which features sustainable attributes such as Natural Fiber Welding’s MIRUM® components that are 100% plastic-free.

These achievements are a result of Ralph Lauren’s Timeless by Design strategy, which is dedicated to using materials in ways that reduce environmental impact.

Ralph Lauren is committed to powering its locations with 100% renewable energy. In 2023, the company made progress in sourcing virtual power purchase agreements (VPPAs) for its electricity consumption in North America and Europe. Specifically, it launched multiple projects that will result in new solar electricity generation in the grid.

The company is also transitioning to energy-efficient LED lighting in its distribution center facilities. This action will decrease annual electricity use by 70% and avoid 6,300 lbs. of fluorescent light waste each year.

In Europe, the company is participating in the Fashion Pact’s collective virtual power purchase agreement (CVPPA) initiative. It is partnering with 11 other fashion companies to aggregate electricity demand in Europe and sign a long-term agreement that adds new renewable energy capacity to the grid.

“Ralph’s vision of timelessness is apparent in the beautiful products we create, and it’s our commitment to ensure this vision is carried into how we create and address our impact on the world,” said Katie Ioanilli, Chief Global Impact & Communications Officer at Ralph Lauren Corporation, in a statement. “Our approach is rooted in science, ambitious goals, collaboration and innovation that, together, will enable us to continue to inspire people to live the life of their dreams.”
